"A Community Walkway" -

"A Community Walkway" is a brick area located at the front entrance of the Bourne Veterans Memorial Community Center in Buzzards Bay.  A commemorative 4x8 brick can be purchased for $50.00 for up to two lines and an additional $20.00 for a third line.   Military Veterans can purchase a 4x8 brick for $50.00 for up to three lines.  An 8x8 family or business brick can be purchased for $200.00 for a message up to five lines.

*Please note:  All bricks will be placed randomly throughout the walkway.  We can not guarantee special positioning due to the nature of this project.  The Community Center Board of Trustees reserves the right to reject inappropriate messages.

BOURNE VETERAN'S MEMORIAL COMMUNITY CENTER BOARD OF TRUSTEES -

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEET AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER ON THE LAST TUESDAY OF THE MONTH.  MEETINGS ARE POSTED AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  THE MEETINGS ARE TO DISCUSS COMMUNITY EVENTS, THE VETERAN'S MEMORIAL WALL LOCATED IN THE BUILDING AND REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE NEEDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE BUILDING.

COMMUNITY CENTER TRUSTEES ARE ELECTED BY BOURNE VOTERS.  THERE ARE 3 MILITARY VETERAN SEATS AND 2 NON-MILITARY SEATS ON THE BOARD.  THE CHARIMAN OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN ALSO SITS ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND IS INCLUDED IN ALL DISCUSSIONS AND VOTES ASSOCIATED WITH THE BUILDING.

THE COMMUNITY CENTER DIRECTOR REPORTS EACH MONTH TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEEES, HOWEVER, THE BUIDLING DIRECTOR IS APPOINTED AND SUPERVISED BY THE TOWN ADMINISTRATOR.

BOURNE COMMUNITY CENTER OPEN GYM AND BUILDING RULES -

1.  MUST BE A BOURNE RESIDENT FOR OPEN GYM AND MUST BRING YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT.  NO EQUIPMENT WILL BE STORED AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER.

2.  MUST SIGN IN TO USE THE GYM UPON ENTERING.  MUST STOP YOUR ACTIVITY 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE NEXT SCHEDULED PROGRAM.  OPEN GYM IS ONLY DESIGNATED FOR THE AGE GROUP SCHEDULED FOR THAT DAY AND TIME.

3.  PARENT'S MUST SUPERVISE THEIR CHILDREN 13 AND UNDER WHILE THEY ARE PARTICIPATING IN OPEN GYM AND ON TOWN OF BOURNE PROPERTY.

4.  AT NO TIME ARE COACHES OR PARENTS ALLOWED TO CONDUCT ORGANIZED PRACTICES OR STRUCTURED ACTIVITIES DURING OPEN GYM TIMES.

5.  PRIVATE AND PAID COACHES, HIRED BY PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THIS BUILDING. 

*THE INTENT OF OPEN GYM IS TO PROVIDE CHILDREN WHO ARE NOT INVOLVED WITH ORGANIZED SPORTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY IN AN UNSTRUCTURED, NON-COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT.  IT IS ALSO THE OPPORTUNITY FOR CHILDREN WHO DO PARTICIPATE IN ORGANIZED SPORTS TO HAVE FUN, WITHOUT PARENT AND/OR COACH INVOLVEMENT.

6.  NO FOOD OR BEVERAGE OTHER THAN WATER WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE GYM.  NO TOBACCO PRODUCTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING.  ALCOHOL IS NOT ALLOWED ON ANY TOWN OF BOURNE PROPERTY.

7.  NO BIKES, SKATEBOARDS OR ROLLER BLADES ARE ALLOWED INSIDE THE BUILDING.

8.  SHIRTS AND SHOES MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES INSIDE THE BUILDING.

9.  BE RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS: NO CURSING OR LEWD BEHAVIOR.  NO LOUD OR PROFANE MUSIC.  DO NOT DISTURB OTHER GROUPS WHO ARE USING THE GYM.  IF YOUR GROUP DOES NOT HAVE PERMISSION FROM THE BUILDING DIRECTOR TO USE THE GYM THEN DO NOT ENTER.

10.  NO ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND SERVICE ANIMALS.

OUR GOAL IS TO PROVIDE A FUN AND SAFE ATMOSPHERE FOR ALL RESIDENTS OF BOURNE.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.

The Bourne Veteran's Memorial Community Center regular hours of operation are Monday -Friday, 0700 to 2100 hours.  Excluding holidays.

The Bourne Council on Aging, 508-759-0653 and the Bourne Recreation Department, 508-743-3003  are located in the Bourne Veteran's Memorial Community Center and are open Monday - Friday, 0830 to 1630 hours.  Excluding holidays.  If you have any questions pertaining to programs sponsored by either department, please call each office directly.  The Council on Aging and The Recreation Department also have separate web pages on the Town of Bourne website for more specific information.  Just click on the purple highlighted department names above to go directly to that page. 

PLEASE NOTE:  For inclement weather please check with school cancellations.  If the Bourne Public Schools are closed then senior programs and nightly activites held at the Bourne Veteran's Memorial Community Center will be cancelled.
